Contract Update - Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Policy on Consultations
Effective January 1, 2010, CMS will remove the consultation codes from the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule. As a result of the elimination of the consultation codes, CMS has increased the work relative value units (RVUs) for new and established office visits, as well as initial hospital and initial nursing facility visits.

Once Again PLPP Reports Superior Return: $1.4 Million Profit Share
(Columbus, OHIO) -- Professional Liability by Physicians for Physicians (PLPP) has continued its trend of superior returns for its physician investors. PLPP announced today that they are receiving a profit share of more than $1.4 million – exceeding last year’s performance. This profit share is based upon PLPP’s performance and the quality physicians insured within the program. These monies are above and beyond the already $1,391,506 previously distributed by the program to its physician owners.

Effective January 1, 2010 Aetna's Medicare Plans expanded.
Aetna's Medicare network will be the primary coverage for Ohio's 65 State Teachers Retirees (STRS), School Employee Retirees (SERS) and Ohio Highway Patrol Retirement System (OHPRS).

CIGNA Announces new Great-West Healthcare- CIGNA ID Cards
Beginning in January 2010, CIGNA will begin to use New ID cards for participants in former Great-West plans, now administered by CIGNA.

PLPP is pleased to announce another profit share settlement; this one totaling more than $1,400,000. These monies are above and beyond the already $1,391,506 distributed by the program to its physician owners.

Cigna will implement an additional new clearinghouse connectivity for professional and institutional Electronic Data Exchange (EDI) transactions.
