In February MGO’s Board held a strategic planning retreat. Four (4) strategic initiatives have been finalized for pursuit.
Value-Based Contracting
First and foremost is to complete the development and then implement the value-based contracting model that will serve all MGO physicians and will enable negotiating on behalf of physicians. Initial roll-out of the pilot model for OhioHealth employees will begin by the first of the year. Discussions with payers and employers are beginning.
MGO PR Practice Management
The second initiative relates to practice management. MGO PR currently offers a variety of practice management services in an ala cart fashion. Many MGO practices are utilizing a variety of these services. MGO PR is now beginning to offer comprehensive management of practices, providing the entire business infrastructure for the practice.
EMR Strategy
A third initiative is to develop and implement an EMR strategy that is affordable even for the smaller practices, robust enough for essentially all practices, and able to provide the intercommunication and data warehousing capabilities needed to support value-based contracting.
Formation of Integrated Medical Group (Single Tax ID)
The fourth initiative to explore forming an integrated medical group comprised of MGO physicians. Many MGO physicians are realizing the wisdom of aggregating into larger groups. The Board has appointed a Task Force to lead the exploration of how MGO may assist its physicians who desire to consider this approach. Drs, Carl Krantz and Greg Barrett will be serving as Co-Chairs of the Task Force.
